Cabin projects, lake mornings, campfire conversations — this is where I’m happiest.
About Me
Curious, a little fearless, happiest with pine needles in my hair. Equal parts DIY dreamer and Northwoods wanderer, I’ve spent the past 22 years turning a weekend escape into a full love affair with cabin life — the quirks, the critters, and all the joys of living up north.

Purpose
I started this blog to share my love for the Northwoods — the tips, local finds, and stories that make this place so special. It’s not about perfection or Pinterest-worthy moments — it’s about muddy boots, shared meals, and memories that last long after the weekend ends.

My Northwoods Story
Over 20 years ago, I was a single professional in my early 30s — young, naive, and full of energy. I bought what could only be described as a shack of a cabin. Rough around the edges, it still stirred memories of past family vacations in St. Germain: mornings on the lake, the stillness of the woods, and the scent of pine that seemed to cling to everything. With a tight budget, handy friends, and HGTV to guide me, I learned as I went. Slowly, that little shack became a cozy, remodeled oasis that felt like home.
Life changed in 2018 when I started working from home, giving me weeks fully immersed in Northwoods life. I eventually moved just 80 feet away, buying a beautiful cabin from friends who had become part of this story. Same lake, more room, and comfort for half-time living — enough to soak in all the Northwoods magic without ever getting too serious about shoveling snow in February!

I'm a recovering corporate warrior, full-time Northwoods wanderer.
Visitors always welcome — no notice needed. Coffee’s hot, lake’s cold.
Favorite time: early mornings on the dock — coffee, silence and "smoke" on the water.
Obsessed with lake dogs — they bring all the love, none of the work.
I'm happiest planning DIY ideas (not necessarily finishing them).
My loon call draws more people than loons.
I love all water toys, power tools and kitchen gadgets.
Thrift stores stop me every time.
My neighbors have become family — and not just because they own the good saw.
Mosquitoes hate me, but I still hike.
Mice and chipmunks terrify me — especially indoors.

Base Camp
My Northwoods hideaway is in Harshaw, Wisconsin, midway between Tomahawk, Minocqua, and Rhinelander. Peaceful, forested, and close enough to the action.
